So instead of letting the moment pass us by we decided we are just going to design a few things for the hell of it! The whole idea behind this is to share what’s inspiring us, try out new ideas, and take you along for the ride as we create a brand that’s all about what feels right, right now.

The Trend: Coastal Grandpa

The trend we can’t get enough of right now? Coastal Grandpa. The name is hilarious, but as two coastal girls, we get the appeal of a chunky cream sweater and a winter boat ride. It’s all about laid-back coastal vibes with a touch of vintage sophistication, and we love it so much we decided to turn the inspo into a fake coffee shop—The Salted Porch.

Picture a cozy, lived-in space with rich textures like leather and wood paired with deep, moody tones. It’s timeless and refined, like scoring the perfect vintage find at The Ivy Cottage (or any solid market if you’re not local).

The vibe is nostalgic but fresh, mixing rugged charm with effortless elegance. What really gets us? The contrast color mixing. We’re obsessed with deep blues and warm browns, the perfect balance of sea and coffee, foggy mornings and cozy afternoons. It just feels right.

Establishing Brand Colors

This color palette just gets the vibe we’re going for. The deep blues tie into the sea, stormy waves, old-school sailor jackets, and that salty ocean breeze. The warm browns bring in the richness of coffee, driftwood, and well-worn leather. It’s the perfect mix of cozy and coastal, nostalgic but fresh. Brown and blue together feel like a foggy morning by the water, sipping a strong espresso and watching the tide roll in. 

It’s classic, inviting, and just works. Plus, we have been reading a lot about color contrasting in interior design lately and have been DYING to execute it with a brand. 

Meet The Salted Porch

Meet The Salted Porch, our take on the Coastal Grandpa aesthetic in coffee shop form. This trend is all about mixing tradition with ease, and that’s exactly what we wanted this brand to feel like. It’s cozy, classic, and effortlessly cool, just like that perfectly worn-in sweater you grab before heading out for a crisp morning by the water.

The scallop shell became the perfect symbol for the brand. It’s old-school nautical, a little rugged, and ties back to the sea in a way that feels natural. We really really wanted to find a way to incorporate a fish, but we couldn’t quite figure out a way to do it that didn’t feel disgusting when paired with coffee lol. So we spared you from that! 

Home of the Old Man and the Sea Salt Latte

Did we have to turn this into a coffee shop just to use “The Old Man and the Sea Salt Latte”? Maybe! But can we stop thinking about how amazing that drink would be? Definitely not.
